2nd Global Buddhist Summit 2026 to Be Held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi

India to Host 2nd Global Buddhist Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam

The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture , will organise the second edition of the Global Buddhist Summit (GBS) on January 24–25, 2026 . The summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam , New Delhi, and is expected to emerge as a key international forum for Buddhist perspectives on contemporary global challenges.

Theme and Contemporary Relevance

The 2nd Global Buddhist Summit will be convened under the theme “Collective Wisdom, United Voice, and Mutual Coexistence.” Against the backdrop of rapid social, political, and environmental change, the summit aims to foreground the relevance of Buddha Dhamma in addressing conflict, alienation, and uncertainty. Core Buddhist values— compassion, harmony, mindfulness, and wisdom —will be examined as guiding principles for peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity.

Platform for Global Buddhist Dialogue

Aligned with the IBC’s motto, “Collective Wisdom, United Voice,” the summit is envisioned as a unifying global platform for dialogue and ethical reflection. Building on the success of the inaugural edition in 2023, the event will bring together Buddhist leaders and thinkers to articulate a shared voice grounded in mutual respect and moral responsibility, strengthening international engagement through spiritual and philosophical exchange.

High-Level Participation and Inauguration

The summit is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Chief Guest , continuing the precedent set at the first edition. About 200 delegates —including Supreme Patriarchs, heads of national Buddhist Sanghas, eminent monks, scholars, and senior dignitaries —are expected to participate. The overall audience is projected to exceed 800 participants , reflecting wide global interest.

Buddhist Responses to Global Challenges

Discussions will bring together state leaders, Sangha members, Dhamma practitioners, and scholars to explore Buddhist responses to modern challenges —from ethical leadership and social harmony to sustainable living amid technological change, consumerism, and environmental degradation. The summit seeks to reaffirm Buddhism’s enduring relevance in shaping a compassionate, balanced, and sustainable global order .
