Bengaluru’s Nele Foundation Wins 2025 Moolathva World Award

Bengaluru-based Nele Foundation has been honoured with the 2025 Moolathva World Award for its exceptional service to underprivileged and orphaned children. The recognition acknowledges the organisation’s two-decade-long commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children and empowering them through structured care, education and rehabilitation.

Origins and Growth of the Organisation

Established in 2000 as a project under Hindu Seva Pratishthana , Nele Foundation has operated independently since 2014 . Over the years, it has grown into a key child-welfare institution in Karnataka, dedicated to creating a secure and value-based nurturing environment. Its centres function as protective homes for children facing social neglect, economic deprivation or unsafe living conditions.

Comprehensive Child Support Services

Nele Foundation currently runs 12 residential centres that collectively shelter 415 children . Each centre provides essential support, including nutritious meals, clothing, safe accommodation, healthcare access and academic assistance. Beyond basic needs, the organisation emphasises value education, counselling and extracurricular development to ensure holistic growth. Since its inception, it has rehabilitated over 2,000 children through its child-care programmes.

Award Recognition and Ceremony

The Moolathva Foundation Charitable Trust selected Nele Foundation for its sustained contribution to child welfare. The 2025 Moolathva World Award includes a cash prize of ₹1,00,001 . The felicitation ceremony will be held on 16 November at the Sharada Vidyalaya Auditorium in Mangaluru , with leading community figures expected to attend.
