Oman has conferred its highest civilian decoration , the Order of Oman (First Class) , on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi , marking a landmark moment in India–Gulf diplomatic relations. The honour was bestowed during PM Modi’s official visit to the Sultanate, reflecting the growing strategic, economic and cultural partnership between the two countries. With this, PM Modi has now received 29 international honours , placing him among the most internationally recognised global leaders.

The Order of Oman is the Sultanate’s most prestigious national honour, traditionally awarded to distinguished world leaders and eminent personalities who have contributed to Oman’s international relations. Previous recipients include Queen Elizabeth II , Nelson Mandela , Emperor Akihito of Japan , and King Abdullah II of Jordan . The conferment highlights Oman’s appreciation of PM Modi’s leadership and India’s expanding global influence.
