Strategic Communication Takes Centre Stage in Dehradun

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami underscored the rising importance of communication in governance while addressing the 47th All India Public Relations Conference 2025 in Dehradun. The three-day national event has brought together public relations professionals, policymakers, media experts and academics from across India and overseas, positioning Dehradun as a hub for dialogue on governance, development and public engagement.

National-Level Platform for Policy and Dialogue

The conference, organised by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) , is being held from December 13 to 15 . Delegates from multiple states and international participants, including representatives from Russia, are taking part. The Chief Minister inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp and later visited an exhibition featuring photographs and stalls showcasing Uttarakhand’s handicrafts, reflecting the state’s cultural heritage and creative economy.

Theme Aligned with India’s Long-Term Vision

The conference theme, “Viksit Bharat @2047: Development as well as Heritage,” connects communication strategies with India’s aspiration of becoming a developed nation by its centenary year of independence. Addressing participants, the Chief Minister noted that public relations has evolved from a support function into a key instrument of governance. He stressed that credible, transparent and timely communication is essential to counter misinformation and strengthen public trust, especially in a geographically sensitive and disaster-prone state like Uttarakhand.

Focus on Technology, Governance and Information Integrity

Expert sessions during the conference will explore issues such as artificial intelligence in communication, cybercrime awareness, misinformation management, GST communication, international public relations, and Uttarakhand’s 25-year development trajectory. The Chief Minister highlighted the need for technology-enabled, people-centric communication systems, particularly in areas like disaster response, tourism promotion and citizen services.

Uttarakhand’s Growth Narrative

Highlighting development milestones, the Chief Minister stated that Uttarakhand’s economy is projected to reach ₹3.78 lakh crore in 2024–25 . Initiatives such as the Global Investors Summit, simplified approvals and focused sectoral policies have improved investment, employment and connectivity, while preserving cultural identity.
