C-DOT Partners with Andhra Pradesh to Build Quantum Communication Hub
India has strengthened its quantum technology roadmap with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) signing an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a state-of-the-art Quantum Communication Centre in Amaravati. The initiative forms a crucial component of the Amaravati Quantum Valley , a flagship project designed to make the state a leading destination for quantum research, innovation and commercialisation.
Centre of Excellence to Drive Secure Quantum Technologies
Under the partnership, C-DOT will establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Quantum Communication focusing on quantum-secure communication, privacy-enhancing technologies and quantum-safe cryptographic systems. The centre will support research aligned with the National Quantum Mission , enabling India to develop indigenous, secure communication networks resilient against future quantum cyber threats. The facility will also serve as a testing ground for advanced solutions such as quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum random number generators and quantum security tools.
The broader Amaravati Quantum Valley initiative aims to integrate hardware manufacturing, software development, research institutions, startups and skilled talent into a unified ecosystem. This cluster-based approach is expected to accelerate innovation while building local capacity for quantum-enabled industries.
Strengthening National Data Protection and Security Frameworks
A key focus of the centre will be the development of technologies compatible with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) framework , enhancing the country’s cybersecurity posture. The centre will work on affordable quantum sub-components, secure communication modules and a national-level quantum testbed for validating protocols and standards.
