JPMorgan hires Co-CEOs to lead operations in EMEA

1. Leadership Announcement

  • Bank: JPMorgan Chase.
  • Appointees: Matthieu Wiltz and Conor Hillery.
  • New Controversies: Made Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO) of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

2. Transition and Experience

  • They replace Filippo Gori, who is made to move to global position as co-head of Global Banking in New York.
  • Both Hillery and Wiltz have a combined experience of almost 50 years as deputies to Gori and come to their new jobs with the experience under their belt.
  • Conor Hillery is a London based employee who is the current Head of Investment Banking in EMEA.
  • A French based (Head of Sales) Matthieu Wiltz has vast knowledge about the markets.

3. Roles and Strategy

  • The two Co-CEOs will continue with their existing roles and become part of the management of the Commercial and Investment Bank of the firm.
  • The Co-CEO approach is developed to take advantage of their complimentary capabilities to handle the multi-country, multi-country EMEA business.

4. Strategic Value of EMEA.

  • JPMorgan has a defined expansion plan to the EMEA region where it plans to expand its revenues by 20 percent by 2030.
  • The strategy focuses on:
    • Enhancing the engagement with local clients.
    • Increasing investment banking operations.
    • Embracing regulatory and market changes.
  • London and Paris are brought out as the major centers after Brexit.
