 
                                           
 
  
	 -     Former Indian cricket captain  Mohammad Azharuddin  has been sworn in as a minister in the  Telangana cabinet  , becoming the  first minority community member  in Chief Minister  Revanth Reddy’s  council. The oath was administered by  Governor Jishnu Dev Verma  at Raj Bhavan, with top Congress leaders in attendance. His induction raises the cabinet strength to  16  , with two berths still vacant.

	 -     A legendary batsman, Azharuddin captained India in  three World Cups (1992, 1996, 1999)  , scoring over  6,000 Test  and  9,000 ODI runs  . After retiring from cricket, he joined the  Congress Party  , winning the  Moradabad Lok Sabha seat  in  2009  . His induction marks a return to political prominence and adds a sporting icon to Telangana’s leadership.

Azharuddin was earlier nominated to the  Legislative Council (MLC)  under the Governor’s quota in August 2025, with final approval pending.
