Regional Conference on Environment 2025: NGT Chennai Bench Leads Dialogue on Sustainability and Environmental Governance
The Zonal Bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Chennai , is hosting the Regional Conference on Environment 2025 on 6 and 7 December , bringing together legal experts, environmental specialists, administrators, academics and civil society groups. The two-day event aims to deepen institutional cooperation and promote a unified regional strategy for environmental protection and sustainable development.
Distinguished Panel and Inaugural Ceremony
The conference is being organised under the leadership of NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava , with guidance from Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana and other Tribunal Members. The inaugural session is led by Justice M.M. Sundresh of the Supreme Court as Chief Guest, accompanied by Justice Aravind Kumar as Special Guest and Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava as Guest of Honour. Senior officials from the Tamil Nadu government are also participating in the proceedings.
Focus Areas and Regional Environmental Priorities
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s commitment to ecological responsibility, the conference addresses pressing environmental challenges facing southern states. Discussions highlight the need for stronger regulatory frameworks, climate resilience, ecosystem protection and sustainable development models adapted to regional contexts.
