IFFCO Sahitya Samman 2025 Awarded to Maitreyi Pushpa for Rural Hindi Literature

Maitreyi Pushpa Receives IFFCO Sahitya Samman 2025; Ankita Jain Wins Young Literary Award

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has honoured eminent Hindi author Maitreyi Pushpa with the IFFCO Sahitya Samman 2025 , recognising her lifelong contribution to Hindi literature and her powerful portrayal of rural society, agrarian realities, and women’s lived experiences. The award ceremony was held in New Delhi, underlining IFFCO’s sustained engagement with literature rooted in India’s villages.

Recognition of Rural-Centric Hindi Writing

Instituted in 2011 , the IFFCO Sahitya Samman is conferred annually on a Hindi writer whose work reflects the ethos of rural and agricultural life. The award includes a citation, a memento, and a cash prize of ₹11 lakh . Over the years, it has recognised leading literary voices such as Vidyasagar Nautiyal, Shekhar Joshi, Sanjeev, Mithileshwar, Shivmurti, Madhu Kankaria, and Jayanandan, making it one of the most respected honours for rural-focused Hindi literature.

Literary Journey of Maitreyi Pushpa

Born on 30 November 1944 in Sikurra village of Aligarh district, Maitreyi Pushpa spent her formative years in Khilli village near Jhansi. She holds a master’s degree in Hindi literature from Bundelkhand College, Jhansi. Her vast body of work spans novels, short stories, autobiographical writings, women-centric narratives, poetry, plays, memoirs, and reportage. Her writing is widely acclaimed for its strong social conscience and authentic depiction of Bundelkhand’s rural life, caste realities, and gender struggles.

IFFCO Young Literary Award 2025

The IFFCO Young Literary Award 2025 was presented to Ankita Jain for her book “Oh Re! Kisan” . A former research associate and assistant professor, Ankita Jain gained prominence with her debut “Aisi Vaisi Aurat” , a Jagran–Nielsen bestseller. Her other works include “Main Se Maa Tak” , “Baheliye” , “Mohalla Salimbagh” , and the children’s novel “Aatanki Mor” .
