1. Mission Deployment
- On September 29, 2025 the survey vessel of the Indian Navy, the INS Sutlej, reached Port Louis, Mauritius.
- The ship will carry out the 18th Joint Mauritius and India Hydrographic Survey.
2. Agreement and Scope
- The survey will be carried out on the basis of a bilateral MoU on Hydrography signed in 2025.
- The mission will span a wide range of 35,000 square nautical miles.
3. Capacity Building
- As part of the mission, the officers of different ministries in Mauritius are going to undergo practical training in hydrographic data collecting and processing onboard INS Sutlej.
4. Strategic Significance
- The deployment adds impetus to the robust strategic and maritime partnership between India and Mauritius.
- It is dedicated to the safety of maritime navigation, the sustainable use of ocean resources and the local cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
