Islamabad Suicide Blast Outside District Court

  • A devastating suicide bombing struck Islamabad on 11 November 2025 , killing twelve people and injuring over twenty , marking one of the most serious attacks in Pakistan’s capital in nearly two decades. The blast occurred outside the District Judicial Complex in the G-11 sector , an area that sees heavy daily footfall from lawyers, litigants, and court staff.

Details of the Attack

  • The explosion took place around 12:30 pm , when a lone suicide bomber detonated explosives after being unable to enter the court premises. CCTV footage shows the individual waiting near the main entrance before triggering the device as a police vehicle approached. Authorities estimate the explosives weighed 4–5 kg and were packed with ball bearings , significantly increasing the lethality of the blast.

  • Investigators say the attacker travelled to Islamabad from outside the city, arriving earlier in the week. He reportedly used a motorcycle to reach the spot and concealed the bomb under a shawl. Security teams have retrieved over 90 CCTV recordings and are using AI-based tools to map his movements.

Claim of Responsibility

  • The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) , a faction that broke away from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in 2014, claimed responsibility. JuA, operating largely from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, is known for high-impact attacks, including the 2016 Lahore park blast and several targeted killings.

Political & Diplomatic Reactions

  • Pakistan’s government condemned the attack, vowing tough action against those responsible. Several officials pointed fingers at groups operating from Afghan territory, adding to already tense relations between Islamabad and Kabul. The prime minister also suggested possible involvement of India-linked actors, a claim firmly denied by New Delhi. The incident has deepened regional diplomatic strain and underscored Pakistan’s deteriorating internal security landscape.
