NCSM Wins Two PRSI National Awards 2025 for Public Outreach Excellence

Har Ghar Museum and Waste to Art Bring PRSI Honours to NCSM

The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) , functioning under the Ministry of Culture , has been conferred two PRSI National Awards 2025 by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) . The recognition underlines NCSM’s impactful public outreach and its innovative communication strategies that successfully integrate culture, sustainability and digital engagement at a national level.

Awards and Recognised Initiatives
NCSM received the award for “Best Use of Social Media in a Corporate Campaign” for its flagship Har Ghar Museum initiative. The second honour was awarded in the “Special/Prestige Publication” category for “Waste to Art.” Both initiatives were appreciated for their originality, citizen participation and alignment with national priorities related to cultural preservation and environmental sustainability.

Waste to Art: Creativity Meets Sustainability
The “Waste to Art” publication documents a major initiative undertaken under Special Campaign 4.0 and Swachhata Hi Sewa . Nearly 1,250 kg of waste , including metal scrap, e-waste and discarded containers, was creatively transformed into art installations across NCSM units. These installations function as educational exhibits promoting circular economy concepts. The initiative involved workshops and competitions that actively engaged students and local communities, with selected creations showcased through NCSM’s digital and social media platforms.

Har Ghar Museum and Digital Cultural Outreach
Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , the Har Ghar Museum campaign is based on the idea that every household preserves a fragment of India’s living heritage. Citizens are encouraged to share photographs, videos and stories of heirlooms, artefacts and collectibles, creating a digital archive of culturally significant objects. The initiative strengthens public awareness about heritage conservation by weaving personal histories into the national cultural narrative.
