Book Release Honouring Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Legacy
The Vice-President of India released the book “Sanatan Sanskriti Ki Atal Drishti” at the Vice-President’s Enclave in New Delhi , marking a significant literary tribute during the centenary birth anniversary year of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee . The book has been authored by Vasudev Devnani , Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, and explores the civilisational, cultural and ideological vision associated with Vajpayee’s life and leadership.
The event was addressed by C P Radhakrishnan , who congratulated the author and described the publication as both timely and meaningful. He noted that the book gains added relevance as the nation reflects on Vajpayee’s enduring influence on India’s political culture, governance ethos and national identity.
Vajpayee as an Institution of Values
The Vice-President described Atal Bihari Vajpayee as more than a leader, calling him an institution of principled politics and value-based governance . Recalling his association with Vajpayee during the 12th and 13th Lok Sabhas , he shared insights into Vajpayee’s parliamentary conduct, humility and inclusive approach. He also referred to memories from the Jan Sangh era , including organising a major public meeting for Vajpayee in Coimbatore prior to the Emergency .
Strategic Vision and Nation-Building
Highlighting Vajpayee’s contribution to national strength, the Vice-President referred to the Pokhran nuclear tests of May 1998 under Operation Shakti , which reflected India’s strategic confidence. Vajpayee’s slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan” was cited as a holistic vision integrating defence, agriculture and science for nation-building.
Governance and Inclusive Development
The Vice-President underlined Vajpayee’s focus on good governance and inclusive growth , pointing to initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana , Golden Quadrilateral Project , power sector reforms and the creation of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs . Several dignitaries, including Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Bhagirath Choudhary , were present at the event.
