Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Unveils big Initiatives in Agriculture Pusa New Delhi

  • Agenda: The introduction of major projects in the agricultural, animal husbandry, fishery and food processing industries.
  • Union Ministers and State Ministers: Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bhagirath Choudhary.
  • Homages Paid : Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh on their birth anniversaries.

Major Schemes Launched:

  • Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: 36 sub-schemes with 11 ministries in aspirational districts to increase agriculture.
  • Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission: Objectives The goal is to make India pulses self-sufficient.
  • Projects Infrastructure: 1,100 projects in Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing; investment amounting to ?42000 crores.

Farmer Support Measures:

  • Fertiliser Subsidies: Urea 266/bag, DAP 1,350/bag.
  • GST Relief: Aggressive rates on the agricultural machinery to encourage the purchase of modern machinery at affordable costs.

Minimum Support Price Hike:

  • Wheat +Rs160/quintal
  • Gram +Rs200+/quintal
  • Lentil +Rs300/quintal
  • Mustard +Rs250/quintal
  • Sunflower +Rs600/quintal

Financial Empowerment:

  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: 3.9 lakh crore disbursed to the farmers.
  • Kisan Credit Card: Loan more than 10 lakh crore in FY 202425.
  • PM Fasal Bima Yojana: Compensation > 1.83 lakh crore.
  • FPO Growth: 52 lakh farmers in FPOs; FPOs 1,100 are crorepati having 15,000 crore collective turnover.
  • Purpose: Indian agriculture should be brought at par with the global standards, enhance self-reliance (Atmanirbharta), and Viksit Bharat.
