In 2025 the 35 th National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) will be announced by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) within the Ministry of Power. On 14 December 2025, which will be celebrated as the National Energy Conservation Day, the awards will be given at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, will be honored with the ceremony. Achievement of the awards is a recognition of excellent work in energy efficiency, conservation and sustainable practices in India.
Background and Objective
The National Energy Conservation Awards started in 1991, in order to promote energy efficient technologies and in order to honour organisations that have made a big scale cut on energy consumption. NECA has promoted innovation over the years, better energy management practices, and India Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and climate targets. The awards help to strengthen the responsibility of using energy in the mainstream of sustainable development.
Award Categories for 2025
The 2025 awards will span a wide spectrum of industries such as:
- Industries
- Transport
- Buildings and Institutions
- Energy-Efficient Appliances
- Energy efficiency Innovation.
As a prominent new change this year, there is a new category of digital content creators and social media influencers that will be recognized as the ones that will be spreading awareness about respecting the environment and energy conservation. This is in line with the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) program which encourages conscious consumption and community engagement in climate action.

The evaluation of applications will be based on the extent of energy saving, innovation, and sustainability. Competition with State Energy Efficiency Index will also be available under the State Designed Agencies (SDAs) and this will show the state-related improvements in energy management.

The Bureau of Energy efficiency, which started in 2002 under the Energy conservation act, 2001, is charged with the responsibility of ensuring energy efficiency in sectors. BEE formulates policies, liaises with industries and institutions and aids market-oriented machinery to achieve the energy intensity of the Indian economy.
