India Launches Fast Track Immigration for Trusted Travellers

  • The Government of India has introduced the  Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) , a new system designed to provide a quick, contactless immigration clearance for eligible passengers using biometric technology.

Key Features:

  • Who is eligible:  Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders.

  • How it works:  Passengers use automated e-gates that verify their identity via facial recognition and fingerprints, eliminating the need for manual passport stamping.

  • Benefit:  Clears immigration in seconds, reducing queues and wait times.

Registration Process:

  1. Apply online at the official portal:  ftittp.mha.gov.in .

  2. Complete the process with a mandatory in-person biometric verification at an immigration office.

  3. Approval typically takes  15 to 30 days .

Current Availability:

  • The service is currently operational at  eight international airports : Delhi (T3), Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. There are plans to expand it to 21 airports across the country.
  • This initiative, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, aligns with the government's vision to modernize border control and bring India's immigration infrastructure in line with global standards.
