Indian Golfer Diksha Dagar Defends Her Deaflympics Title With Record Victory

Golfer Diksha Dagar Wins Deaflympics Gold With Record-Breaking Performance

Indian golfer Diksha Dagar delivered a sensational performance to defend her gold medal at the Deaflympics, winning the women’s individual strokeplay event with an astonishing 14-stroke margin . Competing at the par-72 Wakasu Golf Links, Diksha showcased complete dominance with rounds of 68, 65, and 72 , finishing with a three-day total of 11-under 205 .

Commanding Lead From Start to Finish

The 24-year-old opened her campaign with a solid four-under 68 , the only sub-par round among a field of 21 participants. She then produced an extraordinary 11-under round on day two, pulling ahead of her rivals by a massive margin. Her consistency on approach shots and exceptional putting ensured she remained unchallenged throughout the tournament.

France’s Margaux Rezo secured the silver with a total of three-over 219 , while Canada’s Erica Dawn Rivard took bronze at five-over 221 .

A Trailblazing Career in Global Golf

Diksha, who earlier won gold at the 2021 Deaflympics and silver in 2017 , continues to be one of India’s most accomplished hearing-impaired athletes. She made history in 2019 by becoming only the second Indian woman after Aditi Ashok to win on the Ladies European Tour.

Uniquely, Diksha is the only hearing-impaired golfer worldwide to have represented her country at both the Deaflympics and the Olympic Games , including the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics. Her final tally of 26-under across 54 holes highlighted her world-class skill and competitive temperament.

Her Indian teammates Harsh Singh and Vibhu Tyagi finished 12th and tied-14th respectively.
