New Delhi: Two important national surveys of the National Statistics Office (NSO) will be performed during July 2026 to June 2027 ; th e All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) . and the Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural households.
Such massive surveys will provide vital information that will be used in making policies and assessing social-economic situations in India.
All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS)
- Goal: Monitor rural and urban household debt, investments and asset ownership.
- Publisher: NSO (Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation).
Historical Context:
- Beginning in 1951-52 as the All India Rural Credit Survey.
- Invested in expanded 1961-62.
- And every ten years; the last one took place in 2019.
Key Uses:
- Educate financial and monetary policies.
- Examine the distribution of wealth and access to credit.
- Favour national income accounting.
Primary Users: RBI, MoSPI, policymakers and financial institutions.
Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households.

- Coverage:There is income, expenditure, indebtedness, crop production, adoption of technologies and access to government schemes.
Evolution:
- Launched in 2003.
- Added in 2013 and 2019 to cover more and in greater detail.
Key Uses:
- Formulate agricultural and rural development policies.
- Consider performance of programs such as crop insurance and credit programs.
Main Users: NITI Aayog, banks, ministry of Agriculture and researchers.
