Jharkhand celebrated its 25th Statehood Day with vibrant cultural festivities that turned public spaces across the state into lively open-air stages. In Ranchi and Hazaribag, major streets and junctions transformed into cultural hubs as traditional dance troupes performed amidst enthusiastic crowds. District administrations and cultural departments collaborated to organise the event, ensuring wide participation from local artists and schools. The afternoon celebrations were marked by drums, folk melodies and traditional attire that added to the festive ambience.
Diverse Tribal Dance Traditions on Display
The event highlighted Jharkhand’s cultural diversity through performances of Nagpuri, Santhali, Ho and Kurukh dance forms. A major attraction was the Oreon Karsa dance , performed by artists from Burmu at Nucleus Mall, Ranchi. This ritualistic dance features performers carrying decorated pots, symbolising prosperity, collective well-being and gratitude. The elaborate costumes and synchronised movements captivated large audiences.
Hazaribag’s Grand Procession
Hazaribag hosted a street dance carnival beginning at Bara Akhada , passing through important landmarks before returning to the starting point. Led by district officials, the procession included traditional troupes, local musicians and schoolchildren. The sound of nagada drums and other folk instruments energised the celebrations, drawing people from across the district.
