The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 initiated by the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan will be a historic event in works to transform the country in terms of innovation. The event is structured to ensure school students nationwide are not only creative, problem-solvers, and entrepreneurs, but also ready to make a significant contribution to the country's development.
Purpose and Core Themes
The Buildathon is centered on four mighty themes of Vocal for local, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi and Samriddhi. These areas motivate the students to come up with solutions that will lead to self-reliance, bolster national development, and indigenous products. In this way, the programme aims at inculcating the innovation mind at the formative stages so that the students can become players of the India becoming a global innovation hub.
Structure and Timeline of the events.
The event started on 23 September 2025 and registered till 6 October. A pre-preparation period between 6 and 13 October gives teachers time to coach student groups. The Live Synchronized Innovation Event (13 October) is the best part, and they can brainstorm and have an opportunity to discover creative solutions. The deadline for final submissions of prototype will be on 31 October and then there will be an expert panel in November and December to evaluate submissions. The winners should be known in January 2026, and more than 1,000 student innovators should be recognized.
Organisers/Collaborators.
The Department of School Education and Literacy along with the Atal innovation mission, NITI Aayog and AICTE spearhead the Buildathon. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) are also extensively engaged in it allowing widespread involvement and good mentorship within schools.
Influence on Education and Nation -Building.
The momentum of the previous competition called the School Innovation Marathon 2024 which leads to the creation of Buildathon is not only a competition but also an invitation to foster patents, startups, and the entrepreneurship among the students. It is by connecting grassroots innovation and the national agenda that it is making its contribution towards the vision of Viksit Bharat--developed and self-reliant India.
In this effort, India is investing in its biggest asset- youth. Through the development of creative and resilience-based approaches in the classroom, Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is envisioning the next classrooms of innovators capable of developing the locals and global arenas.
