Indian Navy demonstrates submarine rescue at the Exercise Pacific Reach XPR-25

  • Dates: 15-25 September 2025
  • Participation: 40 or more countries in shore (15-20 Sep) and sea events (21-25 Sep).
  • Location: South China Sea
  • Nistar, Rescue Team: Indian Submarine Rescue Unit (East) about Hecker.

2. Major Operational Accomplishments.

Shore Phase Contributions

  • The following will provide the philosophy of the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) system proposed by Presented India.
  • Demonstrated post rescue medical preparedness practices.

Sea Phase Milestones

  • 23 Sept 2025: Indian DSRV Tiger X made the first foreign submarine mating.
    • Partner: Submarine Shin Dol-Seok (S-082) of ROK Navy.
    • Significance: Maiden flight out of Indian Ocean Region.
  • Other Success: Attack on the RSN submarine, RSS Invincible, successful.
  • 25 Sept 2025: Three-asset historic multinational rescue drill (R3).
    • The operations were headed by INS Nistar in cooperation with MV Swift Rescue (RSN) and JS Chiyoda (Japan).
    • Faked rescue of troubled submarine RSS Invincible.

3. Strategic Significance

  • Indian Navy submarine rescue capabilities had a Watershed Moment.
  • Indian DSRV First-ever foreign submarine matings.
  • First to take part in international coordinated rescue drill.
  • Strengthens the function of India in world submarine security plans.
