PM Modi Releases Commemorative Stamp and Coin in Tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a grand national tribute in Kurukshetra, Haryana , honouring the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur , the Ninth Sikh Guru revered for his sacrifice to uphold religious freedom. As part of the commemoration, the Prime Minister launched a special postage stamp, a commemorative coin, and a coffee-table book dedicated to the Guru’s life and legacy.

The state-level event witnessed a large gathering of devotees, scholars, and community representatives. The Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, hosted the programme at Jyotisar village , where extensive arrangements and security systems were put in place to manage thousands of attendees from across North India.

Interfaith Hymns Symbolising Unity

A key highlight of the ceremony was the soulful interfaith Gurbani recital conducted by 350 students from Patiala, representing diverse faiths including Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities. Their collective voices echoed the values of unity, peace, and resilience , reflecting Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings.

Prime Minister’s Address on Sikh Legacy

During his address, PM Modi referred to Guru Tegh Bahadur as “Hind Di Chadar,” recalling his resistance against religious persecution. He also mentioned Bhai Jaita’s courageous act of transporting the Guru’s severed head to Anandpur Sahib. Modi further highlighted steps taken to celebrate Sikh heritage – including the Kartarpur Corridor project, Prakash Gurpurb celebrations, and the Hemkund Sahib ropeway.
