NCERT Celebrates 65 Years with Push for Digital and Equitable Education

In 2025, to mark its 65th Foundation Day , the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) launched several digital transformation, early childhood education, and inclusivity-based initiatives. This is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 , which focuses on equitable and modernised learning.

Key Initiatives

Bal Vatika DTH Channel

 

  • Introduction of Bal Vatika (PM eVidya Channel No. 35) , which is a special children TV channel for children aged between 3-6 years .
  • Delivers audio-visual information to reinforce the basic literacy and numeracy.
  • Helps parents, teachers and Anganwadi workers provide early childhood care and education (ECCE) .

 

DIKSHA 2.0

 

  • The new DIKSHA 2.0 platform incorporates adaptive learning based on artificial intelligence .
  • has designed lessons, individual tests, and multilingual education, 12 Indian languages .
  • Has accessibility options, including Read aloud, Closed captioning, and Text Translation .

 

Inclusive Education

 

  • PRASHAST 2.0: A computer application of early disability screening, connected with UDISE+, APAAR and Swavlamban Card to get specific assistance.
  • Kitab Ek Padhe Anek: Accessible textbooks in Class 1-2 according to the principles of Universal Design of Learning (UDL) .

 

Other Innovations

 

  • Immersive learning VR labs in demonstration schools.
  • PM eVidya mobile app was started as a single source of digital content.
  • Released new primers in Hindi, Sanskrit, Ho-Hindi and Koya languages to encourage linguistic diversity.
  • Utkal Jananinkara Sujogya Santana (showcasing 100 great personalities of Odisha) was published.
  • PSSCIVE vocational education handbook to promote skill-based learning.

 

Alignment with NEP 2020

 

These efforts underpin digital education, inclusivity, and curriculum reforms , and continue to define NCERT as a leader in the development of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-SE 2023) and Foundational Stage Framework (NCF-FS 2022).
