Uttar Pradesh to Create Kalyan Singh Nagar Its 76th District

 

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the formation of a new district, Kalyan Singh Nagar , to honour the legacy of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh . The new district will be carved out of parts of Aligarh and Bulandshahr , marking Uttar Pradesh’s 76th district .

District Named in Honour of Kalyan Singh

  • The decision commemorates Kalyan Singh’s contributions to the state’s governance and political development. A key BJP leader, he served twice as Chief Minister (1991–92 and 1997–99) and played a major role in strengthening administrative systems in Uttar Pradesh.

Proposed Boundaries

  • The district will include Atrauli and Gangiri tehsils from Aligarh and Dibai tehsil from Bulandshahr—regions closely linked to Kalyan Singh’s life and political journey. The move aims to improve administrative efficiency and local governance.

Support and Implementation

  • The proposal, supported by Kalyan Singh’s son and former MP Rajveer Singh , is expected to gain formal approval soon. It aligns with the state government’s broader push to reorganise districts for better service delivery.
