President Murmu to Attend Navy Day Celebrations at Shangumugham on December 3

India will observe Navy Day on December 3 , with a grand Operational Demonstration scheduled at Shangumugham beach in Thiruvananthapuram , where President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest. The ceremony, hosted by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi , aims to highlight the Indian Navy’s maritime capabilities and operational strength.

Operational Display and Arrangements

The event is the centrepiece of this year’s Navy Day observance and is planned for the afternoon of December 3 . Ahead of the main day, full-dress rehearsals will take place on November 29 and December 1 , allowing participating units to refine synchronised manoeuvres and display sequences.

The demonstration will feature high-skill naval operations, showcasing ships, aircraft, marine commando capabilities and coordinated tactical formations. Commodore Viju Samuel noted that the showcase is designed to bring the public closer to India’s maritime defence network.

Musical Prelude to the Celebrations

To build momentum toward the main event, the Navy recently organised a Naval Band Concert at the Nishagandhi Auditorium. Led by Commander Manoj Sebastian , the 55-member Southern Naval Command (SNC) Band delivered a wide-ranging performance including martial pieces, patriotic scores, retro film themes, and Carnatic-fusion compositions.

Tourism Secretary Biju K. attended the concert as chief guest, where Rear Admiral Samir Kapoor , SNC Command Medical Officer, presented him with the Southern Naval Command Crest , marking the ceremonial gesture of honour.
