Lt K M Sudha Becomes First from Northeast to Win Gold at NCC Officers’ Training Event

Lieutenant K M Sudha has created history by becoming the first individual from India’s Northeast to win a gold medal at a prestigious National Cadet Corps (NCC) officers’ training event . Her achievement marks a significant milestone for the region’s representation in national-level defence training and leadership programmes.


Historic Achievement at NCC Training Event

Lt Sudha emerged as the top performer at the annual NCC officers’ training programme held at the Officer Training Academy , Gwalior. Competing against 127 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) from across the country, she was adjudged the best firer of the academy .

The event, conducted for several decades, is regarded as one of the most rigorous platforms for evaluating instructional ability, physical endurance, weapon handling, and leadership competence among NCC officers.


Academic and NCC Background

Lt Sudha is an Assistant Professor of History at Royal Global University and serves as an Associate NCC Officer under the 30 Assam Battalion NCC . Her dual role reflects the close linkage between higher education and discipline-based leadership training promoted through the NCC framework.


Performance and Commissioning

Throughout the demanding training schedule, Lt Sudha demonstrated consistent excellence across multiple domains . She secured an ‘A’ grade in the final merit list and was formally commissioned with the rank of Lieutenant .

According to university officials, her standout performance covered drill competition, yoga instructional practice, lecture instructional practice, map reading, and weapon training , underlining her strong all-round proficiency and instructional capability.

Lt Sudha’s accomplishment is widely viewed as a landmark moment for India’s Northeast , a region traditionally underrepresented in national defence training honours.
