DRDO Conducts Successful Salvo Launch of Pralay Missile

Salvo Launch Demonstrates Operational Readiness

India has further strengthened its conventional strike capabilities with the successful salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles . The test was conducted on December 31, 2025 , from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur , off the Odisha coast. The launch marked a crucial phase in user evaluation trials and demonstrated the missile system’s reliability under realistic operational conditions.

Precision Firing from a Single Launcher

According to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) , both missiles were fired in quick succession from the same launcher at around 10:30 am . The missiles followed their pre-programmed trajectories with high accuracy and achieved all mission objectives. The successful salvo firing validated the missile’s responsiveness, launch readiness, and consistency during rapid sequential operations.

Capabilities of the Pralay Missile

Pralay is a solid-fuel, quasi-ballistic surface-to-surface missile developed indigenously for high-precision conventional strikes. Equipped with advanced navigation and guidance systems, the missile can accurately engage a variety of targets. Its ability to carry different types of warheads enhances operational flexibility and strengthens India’s conventional deterrence posture, particularly in regional conflict scenarios.

Tracking and Independent Validation

The missile flights were continuously monitored using range-based tracking sensors. Additionally, telemetry data from onboard systems were independently validated by instrumentation installed on a ship positioned near the impact area. DRDO confirmed that both missiles met all terminal performance parameters during the trial.

Collaborative Effort Across Agencies

The successful test involved multiple DRDO laboratories, including Research Centre Imarat, Defence Research and Development Laboratory, and Advanced Systems Laboratory . Integration and production support were provided by Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited . Senior officials from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force were present, highlighting the missile’s growing importance in India’s defence preparedness.
