RBI Executive Director Shri Sanjay Kumar Hansda Appointed

1. Appointment:

• The reserve bank of India (RBI) has hired Shri Sanjay Kumar Hansda as an Executive Director (ED).
• The appointment comes into effect March 3, 2025.

2. Professional Background:

• Before this promotion, he had been occupying a few senior posts in the RBI and these were:
• Consultant at the Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR).
• Adviser in Monetary Policy Department.
• Director/Officer-in-Charge Internal debt management department.

3. International Experience:

• On October 6, 2025, he once again joined the RBI after becoming a Senior Advisor to the Executive Director (India) in the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
• He also worked with the RBI on secondment in the Bank of England as an Analyst (Financial Stability).

4. Committee Memberships:

• He has served on key committees that are constituted by the Bank of England, the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS) and Government of India among other working groups.

5. New Role:

• He will be the head of the Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) at the RBI as Executive Director.
