India to Host WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine 2025

India to Host Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine in New Delhi

New Delhi is gearing up to host the second edition of the WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine , welcoming delegations from over 100 countries . Scheduled from 17–19 December at Bharat Mandapam, the event signals growing worldwide interest in holistic healthcare and culturally grounded medical systems.

Strengthening Global Cooperation on Integrative Health

Experts, researchers, health ministers and policy leaders will convene to discuss how traditional, complementary and Indigenous medical systems can be integrated into formal health services. Sessions will focus on evidence-backed research, global standards, best practices and the role of traditional medicine in improving public health outcomes.

The summit’s 2025 theme — “Restoring balance: The science and practice of health and well-being” — reflects a global shift toward preventive, people-centred healthcare models. Organisers highlight that traditional medicine offers cost-effective, culturally familiar and accessible solutions, especially in underserved regions.

India to Showcase Ayush Systems and Ashwagandha Research

A key attraction will be a special session on Ashwagandha , where global experts will evaluate its therapeutic potential and emerging scientific evidence. India will also showcase the breadth of its Ayush systems — Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy — which continue to gain international recognition for their holistic approach to health and chronic disease management.
