Veer Bal Diwas 2025: Honouring courage, sacrifice and young role models
The Ministry of Women and Child Development will observe Veer Bal Diwas at the national level on December 26 , paying tribute to the courage, sacrifice and enduring values of India’s young heroes. The occasion also coincides with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 , one of the country’s highest civilian honours for children, celebrating extraordinary achievements across multiple fields.
Significance of Veer Bal Diwas
Veer Bal Diwas commemorates the supreme sacrifice of the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh , symbolising unwavering courage, moral strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Instituted to inspire children and youth, the observance reinforces values of bravery, righteousness and commitment to truth. The national-level programme for 2025 will be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi , with participation from students, educators and national leaders.
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025
On the same day, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu , will confer the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on 20 children from 18 States and Union Territories . The awards recognise exceptional achievements in Bravery, Art and Culture, Environment, Social Service, Science and Technology, and Sports . The award ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi , at 10:00 am on December 26 .
National programme and leadership participation
The Veer Bal Diwas programme at Bharat Mandapam will be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , who will address children and youth, highlighting their role in nation-building and aligning the observance with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 . Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi will deliver the welcome address. Cultural performances and interactions with Bal Puraskar awardees will reflect India’s civilisational heritage and spirit of bravery.
Live telecast and nationwide outreach
To ensure wide participation, the programme will be telecast live from 12:30 pm onwards on NIC Webcast, DD News , and the Ministry’s official YouTube channel , enabling citizens across the country to join the celebration.
