- In a bid to accelerate tourism-driven growth in the Northeast, Mizoram’s Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar and NITI Aayog member Dr. V.K. Paul have agreed to jointly organise the “Mizoram Tourism Conclave” . The decision was taken during a high-level meeting in New Delhi , aimed at developing strategic partnerships to strengthen Mizoram’s tourism potential through stakeholder participation and policy coordination .
Focus on Stakeholder Collaboration
- The proposed conclave will bring together stakeholders from government departments, industry, academia, and tourism service providers . Both NITI Aayog and the Mizoram government stressed the importance of multi-sectoral cooperation to ensure long-term socio-economic benefits for local communities. A joint task force will be established to finalise the event’s schedule and oversee planning, logistics, and implementation.
Tourism Boost from Railway Connectivity
- Tourism in Mizoram has seen a notable rise following the extension of railway connectivity up to Sairang , near Aizawl . The improved access has made travel to the state easier for both domestic and international tourists. Between August and September 2025 , the state recorded 1,27,458 visitors , including 2,208 foreign tourists . Aizawl district alone accounted for nearly 60% of total arrivals , confirming its emergence as a key tourism hub in the region.
Integration with Ginger Stakeholder Consultation
- The Mizoram Tourism Conclave will coincide with the “Stakeholder Consultation on Ginger Produce for Mizoram” , scheduled in New Delhi on November 24, 2025 , to be attended by Chief Minister Lalduhoma . The twin events aim to attract investment in tourism, agriculture, and entrepreneurship , promoting integrated development and sustainable growth.
