Key Highlights:

  • Maldives already had previous HIV and syphilis validation, and recently hepatitis B MTCT elimination.
  • WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus termed it as a historic milestone in the history of public health.
  • More than 95 per cent of the coverage of antenatal care with universal screening and treatment of pregnant women, including migrants.
  • Large immunization coverage: Infants are immunized against hepatitis B on time.
