10th International Gita Festival Begins in Kurukshetra
The 10th International Gita Festival has commenced in Kurukshetra, launching a three-week celebration of spirituality, culture and scholarship rooted in the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The mega event, held from 15 November to 5 December , continues to grow in scale, drawing visitors, devotees and researchers from across India and the world.
A Festival of Spiritual and Cultural Grandeur
This year’s festival includes an expansive lineup of programmes—devotional activities, seminars, cultural performances and educational competitions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the celebrations on 25 November , adding national significance to the event.
The partner state for 2025, Madhya Pradesh , has set up vibrant pavilions featuring tribal art, traditional crafts and regional cuisine, showcasing the state’s cultural identity.
Rising Global Participation
Since its inception in 2016, the festival has evolved into an international platform. The 2025 edition features participation from 51 countries , reflecting the global spiritual appeal of the Gita.
A major highlight is the International Gita Seminar at Kurukshetra University from 24–26 November , where 25 scholars from 16 nations will present research on philosophy, ethics and global interpretations of the Gita. Priests and cultural delegates from Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago and artisans from seven countries will also take part.
Cultural Showcases and Devotional Events
From 24 November to 1 December , Purushottampura Bagh will host grand dance-dramas inspired by Lord Krishna and the Mahabharata.
A Gita Shobha Yatra on 1 December , followed by a Deepotsav at 182 pilgrimage sites, will create a spectacular devotional atmosphere.
Student competitions—shloka chanting, essay writing, painting and rangoli—will run from 28–30 November , alongside a Gita Book Fair at Brahma Sarovar featuring major national publishers.
