Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has implemented two historic schemes in 2025- SREE-2025 and Amnesty Scheme-2025 . Both programs are aimed at increasing the social security coverage, making industries compliance less complicated, and decreasing the level of legal challenges. Collectively, they are an affirmative action towards improving the labour welfare in India.
SPREE-2025: Registrations Promotions.
The Scheme to promote registration of employers and employees, SPREE-2025, is in force until 31 December 2025 . It offers an option of voluntary registration of both employers and workers not already members of ESIC to do so via the ESI Portal, the Shram Suvidha Portal and the Company Affairs Portal .
The most important aspect of this scheme is that no requirement of past dues will be increased during the registration. The employers registering under the SPREE-2025 will be taken as covered on the date of registration or a reported earlier date. In the case of employees, benefits like health insurance and social security will be immediately available after registration.
The scheme minimizes litigation and establishes trust between employers and employees by promoting voluntary compliance as opposed to penal action. It also helps industries as it eliminates the fear of retroactive liabilities, thus making the compliance easier and easier.
Dispute Resolution Amnesty Scheme-2025.
The Amnesty Scheme-2025 is a one-year settlement period by employers, which takes effect on 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026 . It deals with outstanding issues regarding damages, interest and coverage in the ESI Act.
With this scheme, regional directors have been given rights to withdraw cases when the contribution and interest is paid. In addition, formal notice cases that were filed against insured persons more than five years earlier can be dropped too. It is important to note that it is the first occasion the dispute about the damages and interest are addressed, which provides the industries with the much-desired mechanism that can resolve the issues that have lingered a long time.
Industrial and Worker benefits.
Both the schemes have been embraced by industry bodies since they lessen compliance costs, legal risks, and uncertainties. To the employees, the schemes guarantee them easier access to health and social security benefits. They both make the ESIC framework simpler and bolster the welfare of workers.
Government's Commitment
These projects reflect the larger goal of the Government of India to formalise its workforce , ease of doing business and to widen social security . ESIC is strengthening its position as the pillar of the Indian system of labour protection by taking voluntary registration and dispute resolution.
