Saudi Arabia Launches Second Global Harmony Initiative with ‘India Week’

 

  • Saudi Arabia has launched the second edition of its Global Harmony Initiative on 2 November 2025 , beginning with “India Week” as part of the ongoing Riyadh Season . The programme, led by the Ministry of Media in cooperation with the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) , highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to cultural inclusivity and cross-cultural understanding under Saudi Vision 2030 .

Celebrating Diversity under Vision 2030

  • The Global Harmony Initiative is part of the Quality-of-Life Program , one of the key pillars of Vision 2030 aimed at enhancing community well-being and fostering cultural coexistence. The initiative recognises the contributions of expatriate communities to Saudi Arabia’s social, cultural, and economic development . It provides a platform for residents to showcase their artistic, professional, and cultural achievements, reflecting the nation’s growing multicultural identity.

‘India Week’ Showcases Cultural Bridges

  • The event began with “India Week”, celebrating the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between India and Saudi Arabia. The week features a vibrant mix of traditional Indian dance and music performances , art exhibitions , food festivals , and handicraft displays , all highlighting India’s rich heritage. The celebrations attracted widespread participation from the Indian diaspora in Riyadh , symbolizing friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.

Diplomatic Support and Cultural Exchange

  • Indian Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan commended the initiative as an “excellent effort to build cultural bridges and reaffirm historical bonds.” He emphasized that such collaborations enhance people-to-people connections and strengthen bilateral ties. The partnership between the Ministry of Media and the GEA demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s growing focus on cultural diversity as part of its broader social reform agenda .

Global Harmony’s Wider Scope

  • Following “India Week,” the initiative will celebrate 13 other national cultures , including those from the Philippines, Indonesia, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Uganda, and Ethiopia . Each cultural week will feature concerts, community events, and traditional showcases , promoting unity and mutual respect among Saudi Arabia’s diverse residents.
