Established
- Established for the initial occasion during the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995) in celebration of rural women's contribution to agriculture and food security.
- In connection to World Food Day (16 October) to promote rural women's role in securing food.
- The UN Resolution 62/136, agreed upon on 18 December 2007, officially established 15 October as International Day of Rural Women.
- Other previous global debates about digital empowerment for rural women also took place during:
