This Maharashtra government has made an essential change in their flagship program called Ladki Bahin Scheme wherein the e-KYC verification is compulsory to all women who wish to receive future benefits. The program, which is being led by the Women and Child Development Department, is geared towards a clear, straightforward and safe provision of financial assistance to women throughout the state.
Women Financial Assistance.
The Ladki Bahin Scheme gives Rs1,500/month to women who are qualified by directly transferring the money to their bank accounts. The support will be provided to women between the ages of 21 and 65 years with a family income not above Rs2.5 lakh per annum. The program includes various groupings of women like married, widowed, divorced, abandoned, destitute and unmarried women. Even women on the job in the outsourced jobs, volunteering jobs or under the contractual job category can be eligible as long as they satisfy the income requirements.
Step-by-Step e-KYC Process
To fully check the verification process, the beneficiaries will have to access the official portal ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in.
. When they are at homepage, they would have to go to the e-KYC banner and input their Aadhaar number and the captcha code that is shown. Once the consent of Aadhaar-based authentication is provided, beneficiaries have to click on Send OTP. The Aadhaar-linked mobile number will receive a one-time password that is to be entered on the portal to complete the verification.
Required Documents
When registering in the scheme, applicants have to provide such important documents:
- Latest passport size photo.
- Aadhaar card
- Voter ID or old ration card or domesticile certificate or proof of long-term residence.
- Income certificate (not required in a case of having a yellow or orange ration card)
- Marriage certificate, where available.
- Bank Accounts Aadhaar-based.
- Letter of affirmation eligibility.
Promoting Transparency and Inclusion.
The recently released government resolution helps clarify the fact that, e-KYC is now compulsory to all current and new beneficiaries. The measure will be done to avoid duplication, deletion of fraudulent claims and to make sure that the benefits reach the right women beneficiaries directly into their bank accounts.
The Maharashtra government is not only aiming at empowering women financially but also establishing precedence in accountability and efficiency in welfare schemes through tightening of the verification process.
