Andhra Pradesh Partners With WEF for Energy and Cyber Resilience
Andhra Pradesh has taken a major step toward securing its energy systems and accelerating clean-power expansion by partnering with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to set up a Centre for Energy and Cyber Resilience in Visakhapatnam. The initiative reflects the state’s vision to modernise its electricity sector while preparing for emerging cyber risks targeting critical infrastructure.
Centre Aimed at Strengthening Grid Security
The new centre will focus on protecting electricity networks against cyberattacks, operational failures and digital vulnerabilities. It will help design risk-assessment models , policy frameworks, and training programmes for energy utilities. Officials emphasise that the centre will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted and secure power for industries, households and essential services.
Support for State’s Renewable Energy Vision
Andhra Pradesh has announced an ambitious plan to achieve 160 GW of green energy capacity , driven by solar, wind and hydro resources. State officials expect the WEF partnership to enhance power-system efficiency, reduce transmission losses and ensure the supply of affordable, high-quality electricity. Rooftop solar expansion under central schemes forms a key component of this effort.
Adoption of Advanced Power Technologies
The state aims to integrate AI-based monitoring , predictive analytics and emerging digital tools to enhance grid reliability. These technologies will enable faster detection of faults, improved load management and smoother integration of renewable energy into the grid, especially as capacity rises across urban and rural networks.
