India Reaffirms Global Harmony at UN Alliance of Civilizations Forum

India Highlights Dialogue and Pluralism at 11th UNAOC Meeting in Riyadh

India reiterated its commitment to global harmony, pluralism, and inclusive values at the 11th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Forum , held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia . India’s intervention underscored the importance of dialogue and peaceful coexistence at a time when the world faces growing polarisation and social divisions.

Indian Representation at the High-Level Forum
The Indian delegation was led by P Kumaran, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs . He delivered India’s statement at the high-level meeting of the Group of Friends of UNAOC , reaffirming New Delhi’s strong support for multilateral platforms that encourage intercultural and interfaith understanding. India emphasised that global challenges rooted in mistrust and intolerance require cooperative, dialogue-based solutions.

Civilisational Values and India’s Worldview
Highlighting India’s civilisational ethos, Kumaran referred to the principles of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam —the idea that the world is one family—and Sarva Dharma Samabhav , which calls for equal respect for all religions. He noted that these values are deeply embedded in India’s social fabric and continue to guide its domestic policies and international engagement. India presented its diversity as a strength and a model for peaceful coexistence in plural societies.

Dialogue as a Tool Against Polarisation
India stressed that sustained dialogue, mutual respect, and international cooperation are essential to counter rising intolerance and ideological divides. The statement called for collective global efforts involving governments, civil society, youth, and faith leaders to build trust and promote understanding across cultures and communities.

Hosted by Saudi Arabia from December 14 to 15 , the forum brought together political leaders, religious figures, civil society representatives, media, and youth.
