Scotland Name 15-Member Squad for Men’s Under-19 World Cup
Scotland have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 , with Shlok Thaker and Shreyas Tekale earning maiden call-ups to the national U-19 setup. The squad will be led by Thomas Knight , as Scotland aim to make a stronger impact after a difficult campaign in the previous edition.
New Inclusions Strengthen the Squad
Head coach Keegan Russell expressed confidence in the two newcomers, highlighting their resilience and growth. Shlok Thaker, who narrowly missed selection for the ICC Europe Qualifier earlier this year, has impressed selectors with his renewed fitness and improved bowling performances after responding positively to feedback. Shreyas Tekale, meanwhile, caught attention during the Celtic Cup in Ireland with the U-17 side, where his consistent performances on helpful wickets marked him as a promising prospect.
Both players had missed the Europe Qualifier in August, which Scotland won in Dundee, but their subsequent performances ensured selection for the global tournament.
Preparation and Group Challenge
The Scottish squad will depart on December 30 for a preparatory training camp in Potchefstroom, South Africa , before travelling to Zimbabwe for warm-up matches against India in Bulawayo and Bangladesh in Harare. Scotland are placed in Group C , alongside England, Pakistan, and hosts Zimbabwe , making progression a significant challenge.
Scotland will begin their World Cup campaign on January 15 against Zimbabwe in Harare, followed by fixtures against Pakistan and England at the same venue. Coach Russell emphasised that the tournament is not only about results but also about learning and competing against the world’s best young cricketers.
