- The Government of India has announced the winners of the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 , recognising outstanding achievements in science, technology, and innovation . The awards celebrate India’s growing scientific excellence and its contribution to national development.
About the Award
The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar honours exceptional contributions across 13 scientific domains , including Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Engineering, Environmental Science, and Space Technology. It is presented in four categories:

Vigyan Ratna (VR) – Lifetime achievement in science and technology.

Vigyan Shri (VS) – Distinguished contributions in any scientific field.

Vigyan Yuva–Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY–SSB) – For scientists under 45 years.

Vigyan Team (VT) – For outstanding collaborative scientific work.
Selection Process
- Nominations were invited through the national portal from 4 October to 17 November 2024 . Winners were selected by a high-level committee chaired by the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India , supported by secretaries of scientific departments and senior researchers.
