1. Historic Inauguration
- Arunachal Pradesh in reality became a coal-producing state.
- The earliest commercial coal mine at Namchik-Namphuk district Changlang was opened.
- Organized by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
2. Background
- The coalfield was originally assigned to the APMDTCL at the early 2000s.
- Legal, environmental and regulatory problems were a setback to development.
3. Project Revival & Operation
- In 2022, Coal Pulz Pvt. Ltd. (CPPL) auctioned the mine with the help of a transparent bidding process.
- Commercial operation started in October 2025 after approvals.
4. Economic & Strategic Impact
- The approximate coal reserve: 1.5 crore tonnes.
- Projected income per year: more than 100 crore of the state.
- Will create jobs, draw in industrial investment and enhance development of the region.
- Favors Aatmanirbhar Bharat and enhances energy security of India particularly in the North-East.
5. National Mineral Development & Integration.
- Trying to include the North-East into the chains of national energy and mineral supply.
- Promotes the discovery of key infrastructure-related and technological minerals.
