President Murmu Leads Nation in Tribute on 26/11 Attack Anniversary

On the 17th anniversary of the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks , President Droupadi Murmu paid homage to the brave soldiers and civilians who lost their lives during the three-day siege. In a message shared on X, she urged citizens to renew their commitment to fighting terrorism in every form and to work collectively toward building a stronger, secure India.

Honouring the Heroes of 26/11

Ten heavily armed terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba infiltrated Mumbai from the sea route on November 26, 2008 , launching coordinated attacks on multiple public locations including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Nariman House, Oberoi-Trident Hotel, and Café Leopold. The horrifying assault continued for 60 hours, claiming 166 lives , including 18 security personnel , and injuring hundreds.

President Murmu said the nation stands eternally grateful to those who laid down their lives to protect others. Their courage, she noted, remains a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made to safeguard India's sovereignty and social fabric.

Call to Strengthen Collective Resolve

In her tribute, the President emphasised that terrorism poses a global threat transcending borders, ideologies, and communities. She called upon citizens to uphold unity, resilience and vigilance, and to contribute towards national security and peacebuilding.

She encouraged moving forward collectively with the resolve to shape a prosperous, progressive and safe India , where extremist ideologies find no ground to grow.
