- The Eighth Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly began in New Delhi with participation from representatives of over 120 countries . The event was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu , reaffirming global commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.
India’s Leadership in Solar Energy
- Union Minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted that ISA member countries together account for nearly 40% of global solar capacity . He showcased India’s successful solar initiatives, including PM Kusum and PM Surya Ghar , under which 21 lakh rooftop installations have been completed. Nearly 48% of beneficiaries now have zero electricity bills , with many earning income by selling surplus power.
President Murmu’s Message of Inclusive Growth
- President Murmu described solar energy as a means of empowerment and inclusive progress , urging ISA members to link solar expansion with job creation, women’s leadership, and digital inclusion . She stressed that environmental protection must remain central to green energy growth.

- Delegates called for greater technology sharing, financing, and innovation to ensure equitable access to solar energy. The Assembly concluded with a renewed commitment to building a sustainable, affordable, and inclusive solar-powered future.
