  • India’s BRICS Chairship 2026:  Logo, theme, and website launched on  January 13, 2026 .

  • German Chancellor’s Visit:   Friedrich Merz  visited India ( Jan 12-13, 2026 ) on his first official trip to India and Asia.

  • EU Leaders for R-Day:   European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen  will be Chief Guests for  India’s 77th Republic Day (2026) .

  • Global Summit Participation:  An Indian delegation visited Israel ( Jan 13-15, 2026 ) for the  "Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026"  summit.

  • International Spice Conference:  The  9th ISC  will be in  Kochi, Kerala (Feb 23-26, 2026) .

 


National Policies & Committees

  • PM CARES Fund:  The  Delhi High Court  held it enjoys a  right to privacy under the RTI Act, 2005 .

  • NPS Committee:   PFRDA  formed a  15-member expert committee  to frame a regulatory framework for  assured payouts under NPS .

  • Export Preparedness Index 2024:  Released by  NITI Aayog  to assess states/UTs.

  • Health Insurance:  Govt. launched  "Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima" , an optional retail health product for  CGHS  beneficiaries.

  • Public Sector Banks:  Advised to introduce a  Composite Salary Account Package  for Central Govt. employees' financial well-being.


     

State-Specific Developments

  • Kerala:  Recorded the  highest share of personal four-wheeler EV adoption in 2025  among top EV-selling states.

  • Rajasthan:   Bamanwas Kankar Panchayat  declared the state’s  first fully organic village body .

  • Andhra Pradesh:  Deputy CM  Pawan Kalyan  became the  first Indian formally inducted into Kenjutsu  (Japanese samurai swordsmanship).

  • Tamil Nadu:  Govt. signed an MoU with  Sarvam AI  to set up a  full-stack Sovereign AI Park .

  • Karnataka:  Launched the  ‘Gruha Lakshmi Digital Marketing’ portal  to promote women entrepreneurship.


     

Banking & Digital Infrastructure

  • Karnataka Bank:  1) Won  ‘Best Fintech & DPI Adoption’  at IBA Banking Tech Awards 2026. 2) Enabled  net banking for Khajane-2 e-receipts  (GoK transactions).

  • Digital Skilling:  MIB, PSA, and Netflix Fund launched the  ‘Inspiring Innovators’  skilling initiative.
