Defence Acquisition Council Approves 79000 Crore Procurement to Strengthen Armed Forces

 

  • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) , chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh , approved procurement proposals worth Rs 79,000 crore to modernise the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force , supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Indian Army Approvals:

  • Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS)

  • Ground-Based Mobile Electronic Intelligence System (GBMES)

  • High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Cranes
    These systems will enhance mobility, intelligence collection, and precision strike capabilities across diverse terrains.

Indian Navy Procurements:

  • Landing Platform Docks (LPDs) to expand amphibious warfare and disaster relief capacity

  • 30mm Naval Surface Guns (NSG) and Smart Ammunition for 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mount

  • Advanced Lightweight Torpedoes (ALWT) developed by DRDO’s Naval Science & Technological Laboratory

  • Electro-Optical Infra-Red Search and Track Systems
    These additions will strengthen undersea warfare, coastal defence, anti-piracy operations , and low-intensity maritime operations (LIMO).

Indian Air Force Approvals:

  • Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System (CLRTS/DS) — an autonomous platform capable of detecting and striking multiple targets, enhancing long-range offensive and defensive capabilities .
