8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025 in Dehradun

India has shown its commitment to combatting malnutrition and enhancing community nutritional status by the 8 th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025 that was held at Dehradun to conclude the conference. The campaign, on a month long basis, under the name of Poshan Abhiyaan (2018) was directed towards promotion, behavioural transformation, and technological inclusion to enhance service delivery.

    • Purpose: To be a nutrition awareness campaign, particularly, on the health of women, children, and adolescents.
    • Central Themes: Significance of the first 1,000 years of living of a child and the significance of balanced diets, families, and communities.
  • Role of Poshan Abhiyaan
    • Introduced in 2018 to develop a Suposhit Bharat (Nourished India).
    • Combines several ministries and monitors with Poshan Tracker App in real-time.
    • Covering a population of over 14 lakh Anganwadi Centres, over 10 crore women and children are benefited.
  • Achievements (NFHS-5 Data)
    • Stunting reduced from 38.4% to 35.5%.
    • Children who were underweight reduced to 32.1 percent.
    • Digital Adoption: 13 lakh Anganwadi workers in smartphone-based tracking.
    • 2 lakh Saksham Anganwadi Centres to be taken to modern tools and surveillance equipment.
  • Participation by the community and the state.
    • Proactive participation of States/UTs with Uttarakhand registering the reduction of incidences of anemia.
    • Advertising local foods and millets, which will promote health and agriculture.
    • Rewarding Anganwadi workers and Poshan Champions as leaders on the grassroots level.
