Dickie Bird the legendary umpire dies at the age of 92 Cricket World pays tribute

Cricketing fraternity is grieving the death of Dickie Bird, one of the most renowned and revered umpires in the history of cricket who died aged 92.

A Career that left a Mark in Cricketing History.

Bird was a professional umpire who worked in 66 Test matches and 69 One Day Internation as an international umpire that spanned a career of 20 years. His name will be inseparable with history as he had participated in the first 3 Men ODI World Cup finals. His unparalleled style, integrity, and humor turned out to be everyone's favourite player and fan.

The Story of a Player to a World-Renowned Umpire.

Prior to being made an umpire, Bird had played 93 first-class matches with Yorkshire and Leicestershire. He moved to international umpiring in 1973 where he immediately became one of the best in the game. His final foreign posting was in 1996 at Lords, when England played India in Test-match- a match which was marked by the introduction of future Indian greats, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid.

Bird was still very much attached to the Yorkshire Cricket Club where he proceeded to be the president since 2014. The club had honored him as the most renowned and popular umpire in the history of cricket in their tribute; they spoke of his character, unbiasedness and commitment to the game.
