The incident, which occurred late on the night of January 13, destroyed at least 38 thatched houses. Fortunately, no human casualties or loss of livestock were reported, as most villagers were away attending the weekly shandy ahead of Sankranti festivities.

Once ignited, the flames spread swiftly due to the close clustering of thatched dwellings made of highly flammable materials. Within a short span, the fire engulfed a large part of the settlement, reducing homes and belongings to ashes. In total, 56 families were directly affected, losing shelters, household items, and essential supplies.
