National Workshop on Good Governance Practices 2025 Inaugurated in New Delhi

Good Governance Day 2025: Focus on transparency, technology and citizen-centric administration

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh , inaugurated the National Workshop on Good Governance Practices 2025 in New Delhi. The event was organised on December 25 , coinciding with Good Governance Day , and brought together senior civil servants, policymakers and institutional stakeholders to review reforms and share best practices.

Governance as a daily administrative duty

Addressing the workshop, Dr Jitendra Singh emphasised that good governance is not a theoretical concept but a day-to-day administrative responsibility anchored in transparency, accountability and citizen-first service delivery. He recalled that Good Governance Day marks the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee , whose leadership institutionalised ethical governance and strengthened democratic values in public administration.

Momentum in reforms after 2014

The Minister noted that while the idea of good governance existed earlier, its systematic implementation accelerated after 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the principle of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” as the cornerstone of reforms aimed at simplifying procedures, leveraging technology and improving outcomes rather than focusing on process-heavy administration.

Key initiatives launched by DoPT

On the occasion, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) unveiled five major initiatives to strengthen governance architecture. These included a Compendium of Guidelines on Reservation for Ex-Servicemen , an AI-based Recruitment Rules Generator linked to the RRFAMS portal, and a mobile application for e-HRMS 2.0 under Mission Karmayogi. Additional launches featured new AI-enabled tools on the iGOT Karmayogi platform and the Karmayogi Digital Learning Lab 2.0 , aimed at modernising capacity building of civil servants.

Grassroots outreach and future-ready governance

DoPT Secretary Rachna Shah highlighted the success of the Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore campaign during Good Governance Week, which covered more than 700 districts . Dr Jitendra Singh concluded that technology-driven reforms, institutional strengthening and continuous capacity building will define India’s future-ready governance framework.
